How HOCl works in water and mould disinfection

Stabilised hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a highly selective oxidant that rapidly penetrates the cell wall and membrane of microorganisms. It oxidises the sulfhydryl groups of enzymes, disrupts cellular integrity, damages genetic information, and causes the rapid inactivation of pathogens.

In contaminated water it immediately destroys bacteria, viruses, and moulds. On damp surfaces (walls, window frames, grout) it penetrates the biofilm and mould mycelium, eliminates spores, and provides long-term protection against their regrowth.

Water disinfection

HOCl effectively eliminates pathogens in drinking water, wells, tanks, swimming pools, and water for animals. In pools and whirlpools it removes biofilms, prevents the formation of algae and mould, improves water quality, and significantly reduces the need for chlorine.

Removing mould from walls and windows

In damp environments (bathrooms, cellars, interior window frames) HOCl penetrates the mycelium and spores of mould, destroys the biofilm, and provides long-term protection against its return. It is safe even on porous materials such as plaster or grout.
